“Hawkes Bay is on a roll at the moment. Winemakers are claiming it as the ideal place for a range of grape varieties, red and white. This merlot (Oyster Bay Merlot,2002) is pretty smart. The ripe, young fruit typical of NZ has freshness and smooth tones of light oak. Great to see them using a screwcap too.”
