West of the Heretaunga Plains is our magnificent Crownthorpe Vineyard. This terraced vineyard is situated on a spectacular cliff, high above the meandering Ngaruroro River. It is known for its moderately free-draining alluvial soils overlaying stony sub-soils, where our premium Merlot clones produce small, intensely flavoured berries, with elegance and fruit concentration.

Our Gimblett Road Vineyard is located in the heart of the renowned Gimblett Gravels wine region, distinguished for its stony, alluvial soil profiles deposited from the Ngaruroro River over a century ago. Its warm microclimate and stony soils produce Merlot with great varietal concentration and structure.

Our Highway 50 Vineyard borders the Gimblett Gravels Region along the famed Heretaunga Plains. It shares the stony soil profiles of the Gimblett Gravels wine region. Situated in a microclimate, this outstanding site is slightly warmer than other areas of Hawke’s Bay and produces Merlot fruit with excellent structure and finesse.
